The Wisconsin Technology Innovation Initiative, Inc. (Wi2) is a private, 501(c)(3) corporation committed to cultivating and supporting innovation. Wi2 is closely aligned with the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), a global leader in life science research and technology development. Wi2 provides a flexible and collaborative operating model for inventors and investors seeking to advance potentially life-saving technologies.

The purposes of Wi2 include:

  • Support the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health by developing innovative therapeutics to improve human and animal health by alleviating the effects of disease,
  • Enhance the ability of the University of Wisconsin (UW) to educate students in the process of medical product development,
  • Provide increased opportunities for outreach by faculty and staff of SMPH to use their skills in the product development process, and
  • Support the transition into the marketplace of useful technology developed at the UW and other research institutions.

Wi2 is incorporated outside of UW-Madison to offer collaborators and investors a flexible portal to the resources of a global research institution. Wi2 investors and partners can access one of the most accomplished and diverse research faculties in the world, as well as translational research capabilities and facilities that extend far beyond UW-Madison to a nationwide network of collaborators.

Wi2 is operated as a lean, virtual organization, assuring collaborators the lowest overhead and expense possible as we work to translate discoveries and novel technologies for maximum benefit.  Wi2 Leadership is an experienced team of professionals with the business and scientific expertise necessary to form successful partnerships and collaborations.
